FAQs

What can I expect for my first session?

The first session is called an intake session. This session is quite structured - I will ask you questions about your current concerns, as well as your background and history. The purpose of this session is for me to get to know you and understand the events that have shaped you into who you are today. The intake process usually takes 1-2 sessions.

How frequent are therapy sessions?

Typically, sessions are once per week. We can adjust frequency based on your needs, progress and schedule.

How long does therapy last?

Therapy is meant to benefit YOU, and you will ultimately decide how long you would like to continue therapy. Some people benefit from short-term support, while others benefit from longer-term work. Duration depends on your needs and goals.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out of network provider and do not accept insurance. Some insurance policies offer out of network benefits, which is partial reimbursement for services with out of network providers. If this is the case, I can provide you with a monthly superbill (itemized receipt of services and cost) that you can submit to your insurance provider to obtain reimbursement.

How do I find out if I have out of network benefits?

The best way to find out what your plan covers is to call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions:

Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

What is my out-of-network deductible?

  • Ask how much of it you’ve already met and how claims are applied to it.

What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed after I meet my deductible?

Is there a maximum allowable amount or reimbursement cap per session?

How do I submit a superbill?
